Resource: The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) published “Guidance: Background Checks for Foster Care Placements under the Native American Children’s Safety Act (NASCA).” It was issued in accordance with the NACSA and is the result of a collaboration among several Federal agencies. This guidance addresses Tribes’ requests for clarifications on matters ranging from the applicability of NACSA to the adjudication of the results of background checks.
