In fiscal year 2020, there were approximately 618,000 victims of child abuse and neglect in the United States. While this is a decrease from the previous year, much work is still needed to prevent maltreatment.
The Children’s Bureau develops the annual Child Maltreatment reports, which include data provided by the states to the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System.
